Hundred years war
The Hundred Years war started because William Duke of Normandy from France claimed to be the right full king of England. In 1066 William captured England in the battle of Hastings. In 1337 was when the hundred years war officially started when England’s king Edward claimed to be the right full ruler of France because King William or William the Conqueror was the king in France and King Edward was a descendent. The French were able to turn the tides against England and won some very important battles against England in the end, were England was able to get an advantage over France in the beginning. In 1453 France won the war against England.

BATTLES
The battle of Crecy happened in 1346 with king Edward III with 10,000 soldiers. He halted in Crecy Normandy and waited until the next day to battle the French. The next day the French attacked 15 times but English forces were able to fend them off mostly because of the English longbow men.

The battle of Poitiers happened in 1356 with King Edward III’s son Edward the black prince. Edward decides to raid France. This was the second major engagement between the French and English forces. The two forces met outside of Poitiers and the French meant to dismount and attack the English force, but Edward was able to counter attack and break the French line. This was a disastrous loss for France. Edwards forces were able to capture the French king and 2,000 French aristocracies among the chaos of the battle. England demanded a huge ransom for the French to get their people back that were captured.
The Battle of Agincourt happened in 1415. Henry and 6,000 knights, and archers went to Calais. The French positioned its 20,000 knights between king Henry’s forces and Calais, the French attacked In 3 lines. The first line attacked mostly the English longbow men. The second line turned away because of the mud on the battle field. The third line retreated because of all the dead French knights. Henry succeeded in the battle and continued his march towards Calais
