Homes-
Medieval Workplace
Early Medieval Period-
In the early medieval period wealthy landowners had houses made of stone. Nobleman had dark smokey houses with no chimney and one small window. Animals were housed separately in a wooden barn. Crops were also stored in a separate building.
Peasants in the early medieval period had houses made of sticks and straw. They were one roomed and shared with an animal.
Later Medieval Period-
Nobleman had houses made of brick in the later medieval period. Tiles were on roofs and some had chimneys and glass windows.
In the later medieval period the Black Death of 1348 killed most of the Peasants. Since all the wealthy people had a shortage of workers the peasants did most of the jobs and earned some more money. They upgraded their houses to Wattle and Daub houses which were taller, wider, and offered better protection from the weather than their old sticks and straw houses did.

Clothing-
Overall this society was very self sufficient, they got most of their materials themselves. Clothes for example, were made of flax, wool and leather. Though some clothing was woolen and they wore linen undergarments.
If you were to wear bright, very nice material and a long jacket, you were showing off how wealthy you were. Though near the end of the middle ages, men wore hose and jackets often with pleating or skirting.

Jobs-
Medieval tailor shop
The lower class worked as farm laborers or servants to the wealthy in the feudal middle age society. Women had much less power than men. They did play a role in some jobs though, they tended shops and performed craft work like sewing and weaving, but mostly they cared for their homes and children. The middle and lower class could still participate in a council meeting but the wealthy had all the say in these meetings. The upper class did not do as much work but were landowners and held important government positions.
Food They Ate-
Medieval Dinner
People in the middle ages drank alcoholic drinks often, since water was often unclean, drinking was a way to stay hydrated. The poor were limited to ale, mead or cider but the rich were able to drink many different types of luxurious wine.
The wealthy had multiple courses during meals and they all contained very expensive ingredients in them. The nobles started to enjoy a taste for spicy and sweet foods and they could also afford this since they had the money for the exotic ingredients you needed in them.
The people in the upper class ate with silverware and sometimes from gold dishes. Though the lower class ate from wooden or horn dishes.
The peasants in this society ate mostly barley, they would sometimes turn their barley into bread, pancakes or barley porridge. The rich people also ate a lot of bread but theirs was made of wheat so it tasted much better. They also had a variety of other things to eat with their bread that the peasants didn't have access to such as, pork, roast beef, stew, lamb-chops, deer, and rabbit.

How did their Society Influence Us Today?
This society influenced us by showing us ways to live better. Their houses were made with bonding agents that we used and then innovated it to make it so much better without their help our houses now would be falling apart! Also peasants showed us ways to make food out of common things like barley. This society helped us with almost everything we do today by just living their normal live.
