Leonardo da Vinci was born in a town called Vinci on April 15, 1452. The town of Vinci is an Italian town. Not a lot is known about da Vinci’s childhood but he mostly lived in his father’s house. Leonardo da Vinci had basic education in Latin, geometry, and mathematics. When da Vinci was 15 years old, he worked as an apprentice for an artist named Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence. He learned anatomy during this time which helped him later create paintings and sketches. This is how da Vinci learned all his art skills. Leonardo da Vinci traveled a lot in his adulthood and made different artwork everywhere he went. Da Vinci made a lot of his artwork in Milan, Italy. In 1482 the Duke of Milan
asked da Vinci to build the biggest horse sculpture out of bronze. It took him years
just to make the sketches for this project. Later he made a full sized model of the horse in clay which was 24 feet tall. Then because of a possible war with France, the Italian government needed the bronze for weapons, so the horse never got finished. Later he moved to Colux. He worked and edited the French King’s writings. He died in Colux on May 2, 1519. He lived to be 67 years old.

Art work:
The Mona Lisa
(1503-1506)
Two of Leonardo da Vinci’s most influential paintings in the Renaissance were “Last Supper” and “The Mona Lisa.” The Last Supper was made from 1495 to 1498, three years. The Mona Lisa also took 3 years for da Vinci to paint, from 1503 to 1506. These paintings were the most influential from the Renaissance. His life experiences such as being celebrated as a great artist but also being humiliated for his art influenced the way he made his art. Leonardo da Vinci didn’t just create paintings, he created drawings and sculptures too. He was very interested in architecture and engineering.
